If you vote, you dont have a right complain. Like George Carlin said.
Thank you, and no need for apologies about the length. Of the above links, I'd recommend the Graeber the most, by the way. I'm glad you enjoyed the post--to be honest, I was actually embarrassed by it earlier. I guess I only saw the flaws!

Take care.

Hello! I came across this post and thought it was a great read. there is a lot more information in the links that I look forward to reading. Great job putting this all together.

One thing that irritates me about holding anarchist beliefs is when someone won't be convinced by some of the valid (so I believe) points that you make unless you can point to a specific society or group that successfully embraced anarchism. How come it is fine for statist to go about doing their things with problem after problem, yet an anarchist needs to come up with an answer to every little incident that could happen to human-kind?! This post provides some rebuttals against such arguments.

At the same time, perhaps the misunderstanding of the statist is a little on myself for not making them realize that one does not need to turn to coercion or violence to solve social problems.

This is a terrible long reply, so I just want to end it with saying that I couldn't agree with you more on you final points #3 and #5, especially this: What it reveals to me, though, is that people care less about my beliefs than they do about my vote. So they’re treating me as means rather than an end, which is my whole damn problem with the system to begin with.

For real!

Another addendum just to make it perfectly clear: when I cite Medieval Iceland, Anglo-Saxon England etc., it's not to endorse the particular fashion in which those services were provided, but merely to illustrate that it is possible to provide them outside the State. I think there are likely better ways to provide voluntary law and order, and that we can improve on those examples. Hell, I think we can even improve on Anarchist Catalonia or Ukraine.
